The majority of computers in use today easily exceed the above specifications and will run Audio Compass just fine. No proprietary hardware is required. In order to operate Audio Compass you will need the software installed on two machines: one in your studio and the other at the remote location.

Audio Compass boasts several codecs, you need to choose from among them. They include SPEEX, ILBC, G711, G.722, GSM and LPC10. The default is SPEEX. This is the best sounding,  broadcast quality speech codec, specifically designed for voice. Select your connectivity options and you're ON AIR!

The buffer can range from 0 to as many as 9999 milliseconds of audio. This allows you to adjust  the buffer based on the needs of your broadcast.

Connection settings:

Audio Compass is UPnP compliant software. This means, if you are behind UPnP NAT/firewall, then Audio Compass will automatically open tunneling ports and connect to other users. If you are behind a NAT router that does not support UPnP, you can manually open incoming ports on your router. You can use the settings dialog in Audio Compass to manually configure the networking details to match the settings for your network. In most cases you will not need to think about the network details. Audio Compass will do the configuring for you on the fly. In other words the software just works.
